General FAQs
We serve learners at every stage: Nursery, Primary, Secondary, and Adult Classes—all rooted in Islamic values and academic excellence.
At Skafa Islamic School, we teach English, Arabic, and Hausa. English is our main language of instruction. Arabic is introduced to help students understand the Qur’an, Hadith, and Islamic knowledge. Hausa helps build local identity and effective communication within our environment.
At Skafa Islamic School, we believe that play is a powerful tool for learning, especially in our Nursery and Primary sections. We encourage interactive play through structured group activities, educational games, role-playing, and hands-on materials that promote creativity, communication, and collaboration. These play experiences are carefully designed to build social skills, emotional intelligence, and problem-solving abilities—all within a safe, Islamic-guided environment.
At Skafa Islamic School, we approach each stage of your child’s growth with care and sensitivity:
Separation (especially for Nursery): We gently help children adjust to school life through a warm welcome routine, short initial stays, and engaging activities that ease anxiety. Teachers also work closely with parents to ensure a smooth emotional transition.
Transition (between classes or school levels): Whether moving from Nursery to Primary or Primary to Secondary, we prepare students through orientation sessions, gradual exposure to new routines, and mentorship from older students. This helps them gain confidence and adapt smoothly.
Promotion: Academic performance, class participation, and emotional readiness are carefully reviewed before promotion. Parents are kept informed through regular progress reports and meetings, ensuring every child moves forward with the right support and encouragement.
It’s normal for a child to cry during their initial state at kindergarten of semi-independence. Please remember that it’s a natural, healthy response to the love you’ve given them so far… For transitions and promotions, too, we create a plan that’s tailored to their personality traits.
School gates open by 6:30 AM, and classes begin promptly at 8:00 AM. We kindly encourage all parents to drop their children off at the designated school entrance, where our staff will be on hand to welcome and guide them safely to their classes. Timely arrival helps your child settle in calmly and prepares them for a productive day of learning.
We recommend that parents walk their Kindergarteners to the playground for at least the first few days of school. Park on the street or in the lot at St. James Church and walk your child into the kindergarten playground.

Nursery
Our Nursery section welcomes children between the ages of 2 to 4 years. We focus on nurturing early development through love, patience, and guided discovery in an Islamic environment.
Our curriculum blends early literacy and numeracy, Qur’anic studies, creative play, and practical life activities. We focus on building social, emotional, and spiritual foundations through age-appropriate learning and guided exploration.

Pick-up begins at 12:30 PM for Nursery students. For your child’s safety, only authorized individuals listed during registration will be allowed to collect them. Our staff is present at the gate to ensure a safe and organized dismissal process.
Parents are responsible for providing their child’s daily snacks and lunch. We encourage healthy, child-friendly meals, and all food containers should be clearly labeled. Kindly avoid snacks that are sugary, messy, or not age-appropriate.

We use group games, pretend play, hands-on activities, and Islamic storytelling to promote interactive learning. These activities help children develop communication, problem-solving skills, and a sense of belonging in a fun, faith-based setting.

Primary
Our Primary section serves children aged 5 to 11 years, covering Primary 1 to Primary 6. We provide a solid foundation in both secular and Islamic education, helping each child grow in knowledge, character, and confidence.
Our curriculum blends core academic subjects (English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies) with Arabic, Islamic Studies, Qur’an memorization, and Hausa. We also incorporate arts, physical education, and moral instruction to nurture well-rounded learners.
We instill Islamic values such as honesty, respect, and responsibility through daily routines, classroom teaching, Qur’anic reflections, and school-wide activities. Children learn to practice Islam in both word and action—at school and beyond.
School closes for Primary pupils by 2:00 PM. Only authorized persons can pick up your child. Our staff ensures a secure and smooth dismissal process.
Yes. Parents are expected to provide nutritious snacks and lunch each day. We encourage balanced meals in clearly labeled containers. Kindly avoid fizzy drinks or excessively sugary items.
All required school uniforms, writing books, and essential materials are available for purchase at the school. This helps maintain uniformity, quality, and convenience for all families.
From Primary 4 upward, we introduce pupils to test-taking strategies, critical thinking, and revision exercises. We also provide continuous assessment and regular feedback to ensure they are well-prepared for transition to Junior Secondary School.
We support smooth transitions between classes by gradually introducing new expectations and routines. Promotions are based on academic performance, emotional readiness, and overall participation, with regular parent-teacher engagement to track progress.
Secondary
Our Secondary School spans JSS1 to SS3, typically for students aged 10 to 17. We guide them through their formative adolescent years with a strong emphasis on academic excellence, Islamic discipline, and moral responsibility.
We follow the Nigerian national curriculum, enriched with Arabic language, Islamic Studies, and Qur’an memorization. Core subjects include English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Civic Education, Economics, Literature, and more—preparing students for both WAEC and NECO examinations.
Alongside academic instruction, we promote Islamic character-building, leadership training, and practical lessons in faith. Daily routines include du’a, hadith reflections, moral talks, and a respectful, Sharia-guided school environment.
The school day ends at 3:00 PM for Secondary students. Dismissal is done in an orderly and secure manner, and only authorized individuals may pick up a student when needed.
Yes, Secondary students are required to bring their own snacks and lunch, packed in clearly labeled containers. We encourage parents to provide healthy, sustaining meals to keep students energized throughout the day.
Unless instructed to, Uniforms, branded writing books, and other school essentials can be purchased directly from the school. This ensures all students meet the dress and supply standards required for each class.
We offer structured revision classes, mock exams, personal coaching, and past question practice. Our dedicated teachers ensure students are confident and fully prepared for their external assessments.
Promotion is based on academic performance, attendance, character, and continuous assessments. We also provide career guidance and mentorship to support students as they prepare for life after Secondary School—whether in higher education or Islamic scholarship.
Adult Classes
Our Adult Classes are open to any adult or youth who missed out on formal education and desires to start or continue their learning journey—no age limit, no judgment. We welcome both men and women in a supportive, faith-based environment.
We focus on basic literacy (reading and writing in English and Hausa), numeracy (basic arithmetic), and Qur’anic literacy, including recitation and understanding. We also introduce Islamic studies, practical life skills, and basic vocational knowledge to help learners grow both spiritually and intellectually.
To accommodate working adults and parents, classes are held in the evenings and on weekends. This flexible schedule allows learners to balance their education with work, family, or personal responsibilities.
We encourage learners to bring writing materials if they can, but essential items like notebooks, pens, and textbooks can be purchased at the school at affordable rates. This ensures everyone has what they need to learn comfortably.
Progress depends on the learner’s starting point and commitment. However, most students begin to see noticeable improvement within 3 to 6 months of regular attendance. The program is designed to be flexible, non-competitive, and confidence-boosting.
We teach in English, Hausa, and Arabic—making it easier for learners to grasp lessons in the language most familiar to them, while also introducing them to Qur’anic Arabic and formal English gradually.
Yes! Students who complete the program and meet participation goals will receive a Certificate of Completion from Skafa Islamic School, recognizing their achievement and dedication to learning.
